Zurich Electronic Events That Prove This City Never Really Sleeps

Zurich's electronic scene goes well beyond conventional clubbing. Lethargy Festival has combined art and electronic music at the Rote Fabrik since 1994, and Street Parade remains the city's best-known event, drawing up to a million people to a free techno parade for one day. 7 Vibes Journey has taken the most creative route, with its seven-stage setup guiding you through a seven-step musical journey accompanied by themes of fantasy, dance, spirituality, theatre and consciousness. Backslash Festival, Sonic Matter and Rundfunk.fm cover smaller, more experimental corners of the scene.

Since 2017, it has grown from Zurich's underground scene into one of the most unique festival concepts in Switzerland.

Kathleen Smith — Kathleen Smith has been writing about festivals and nightlife culture for the better part of a decade, ever since a spur-of-the-moment trip to Paléo as a student turned into something closer to an obsession. She's chased lineups across the Alps more times than she can count, and has a real soft spot for events that mix live art with electronic music. What she can't stand: overpriced drink tokens and festivals that oversell their own capacity. When she's not out reporting, she's usually already planning the next trip.
